The Badke Quartet entertained at the launch

The Launch of the BMS 2009 International Festival of Chamber Music took place at Direct Wine Shipments on Wednesday 26 November 2008 at 7.30 pm. Once again the evening was a great success.

This event is becoming a firm favourite with the BMS audience who enjoy the relaxed nature of the evening in this historic and unusual chamber music venue with superb music, delicious food and fine wine – a winning combination! Details were announced of the superb line-up of international musicians who were to perform in the Belfast Schubertiade at the end of January; as well as some new projects for BMS, including a collaboration with TOSINI (Teachers of Singing in Ireland) and a special Summer Celebrity Recital. Philip Hammond introduced the Badke Quartet (with Belfast born Jonny Byers) and talked very entertainingly about music in Vienna at the turn of the 19th century. The audience enjoyed some superb playing from the Badke Quartet, who played Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and of course Schubert as a tempting taste of what was to come in the Festival.

The supper, provided by the Radisson SAS Belfast, along with wine specially selected for BMS by Direct Wine Shipments was most enjoyable and we are most grateful to our sponsors for making this event possible.
