2016 saw the latest new initiative from BMS: a chamber music course. Directed by the Benyounes Quartet, the course took place at Clifton House, Belfast, and involved 12 amateur string players in a weekend of intensive coaching and performance.

The 2016 International Festival of Chamber Music presented pianist Janina Fialkowska, Ioana Petcu-Colan with Michael McHale, the Dante Quartet with pianist Daniel Tong, and tenor Robin Tritschler with Christopher Glynn, who premiered a BMS commission from Belfast composer Philip Hammond entitled ‘Lament for an Irish Rebel’.

Our third season of Night Music concerts took place at Duncairn Arts Centre, and the Northern Lights Mini-Fest saw the return of counter-tenor Mark Chambers, with singers from Sestina, as well as performances from Oslo 3 and cellist Jonathan Byers.
