Event Details
Belfast Music Society is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed trombonist Peter Moore—the youngest ever winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year together with distinguished pianist Zeynep Özsuca, for an evening of musical colour and imagination.
Their programme spans centuries and styles, from Bach’s stately Oboe Concerto in D minor (in Ralph Sauer’s arrangement for trombone) to the lyrical beauty of Schubert’s Ave Maria, and the playful neoclassicism of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite.
After the interval, Moore and Özsuca present Brahms’s profound Vier Ernste Gesänge, a moving meditation on human existence and mortality, followed by Kreisler’s charming evocations of the Baroque—La Précieuse and Tambourin (after Rameau). The concert closes with Arthur Pryor’s dazzling La Petite Suzanne, a virtuosic showpiece full of wit and flair.
A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of a new work by Irish composer Ailís Ní Ríain, specially commissioned by Belfast Music Society, continuing our commitment to presenting exciting contemporary voices alongside great works of the classical tradition.
