Legacies

Leaving a legacy in your will is one of the most enduring gifts you can give and ensures that future generations can continue to benefit from BMS’s work to promote outstanding chamber music in Belfast.

If you feel the time is right to consider making a gift to BMS in your will, we will be delighted to hear from you. Please contact us directly on info@belfastmusicsociety.org and we will be happy to help.

How to leave a legacy

Leaving a legacy is straightforward, and a flexible way of giving. We recommend that you seek advice from a professional legal advisor, who can give you details of the different ways in which you can give.

If you have already written your will, and you decide to leave a gift to BMS, you can add a note of amendment, or a codicil, to your existing will at any time. Your advisor will be able to suggest an appropriate wording.

Benefits to you

As well as being of great and lasting benefit to BMS, your legacy will also be of benefit to you. Belfast Music Society is a registered charity, which means that the amount you give as a legacy to BMS will be deducted from your estate before inheritance tax is calcuated. This will reduce the overall amount of inheritance tax that is due.

Thank you

We will always respect your wishes about public recognition of your gift, but if you decide to leave a legacy to BMS we would like to thank you by keeping in touch about our work.
