Event Details

Kirill Troussov is one of the leading violinists of his generation. Guided and mentored by Menuhin and Igor Oistrach, he has partnered some of the world’s greatest conductors (Marriner, Belohlàvek, Gatti) and musicians (Rachlin, Hope, Bashmet, Maisky, Leonskaja) and regularly appears at the world’s great concert halls and festivals.

Derry-born pianist Cathal Breslin has a growing international career as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. A former Fulbright scholar, he is co-founder and artistic director (with his wife, flautist Sabrina Hu) of the Walled City Music Festival in Derry –  now in its 10th year, having been established the same year as his first performance for BMS, back in 2008!

Their programme includes the Valse-Scherzo by Tchaikovsky, and violin enthusiasts and collectors of music trivia will love this extra note: Kirill plays the ‘Brodsky’ Stradivarius violin – the very one used to premiere the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in 1881!

Brahms FAE Sonata (Scherzo)
Beethoven Violin sonata no. 5 in F major, op. 24 (‘Spring’)
